This is Whitehorse

My experience Friday night summed up what Whitehorse is like. For someone who is new to the city, being plunked in that scene would have given them a really good idea of how this city is...in a nutshell! Two other co-op students and I went to Foxys to see a french-Canadian band.
See here.
This local band hadnt played in a year and it was great to see the support they received ie. there were TONS of people there, many french people of course too. I couldnt understand a single word of their lyrics but that didn't seem to matter! I'll try my best to describe it, but really... you had to be there! First, packed house! Second, all ages (20 to 60!). Like, it was no big deal (NBD man) to be dancing with a 60 year old woman. Third, jeans and tshirts, no makeup, hiking shoes, running shoes, birks, a very low-key atmosphere. Fourth, the band... extreme energy. Fifth, the dancing! Everyone just danced...there was no awkward dancing or clusters of people dancing in circles, everyone just danced together... EVERYONE! It was so great. I never would have gone up dancing on my own without knowing anyone, but it was such a comfortable dancing space... so sometimes the two guys I was with would come dance or I'd just go on my own. And in between sets..they'd play GREAT dancing music...none of that weird new clubby music. And when I decided to take a break from dancing, Argentina boy came by...which meant I should just keep dancing to avoid him. We left at 1:30 ish and the band was STILL PLAYING. So hardcore...they just didnt know when to stop! Whitehorse: happy, friendly, supportive, FUN, open.

And attached are a few pictures from Philip's wedding in Regina, which was last weekend. It was a nice weekend, good to see family again.

The three older siblings

Cliff: clearly a bike superstar
Oscar: clearly the cutest superstar
And the most photogenic couple you will ever meet!
