Risk

"You're a risk taker".

Risk: a venture undertaken without regard to possible loss or injury.

I always thought that being a risk-taker was a positive attribute. According to the definitions I've found on the word 'risk' - I'm not a full on risk taker. I actually DO think of some negative effects and perhaps naive to consider ALL of the things that could go wrong. But taking risks goes both ways - you can ask yourself 'what could go wrong if I do xyz?' OR 'what could happen if I did xyz and how amazing would it be?' A quick fast-forward thru my life, I've realized that I've mostly thought of the latter - the more positive way of looking at risk-taking. As a result, I've had some exciting experiences. Also, I've had some big screw-ups.

I wont write about the risks that I've taken lately nor will I write about the screw-ups. Maybe in another blog post - when I actually update on life in Singapore and the trip to Thailand. But overall, I'm being made more aware and more thankful that God has kept me and protected me.

When I lived in Whitehorse, the city was filled with billboards with a picture of a stupid risk and a smart risk and asked the question "What's your stupid line?" All decisions involve some element of risk-taking, and I guess like most areas of life - balance is required. I'm still trying to find my stupid line.

Very interesting thoughts.
You certainly seem to lead experiences that are more exciting than average.

Do you identify with the label "risk taker", and if so, do you see it as a positive label, or in its negative connotations?
