Little India

Third time's a charm! The first two visits to Little India were disappointing - my expectations that there would be lots of good food and that it'd be crowded with masses of Indian people were not met. It didn't even smell funky! The third visit, however...

It was a Sunday night. Little India only becomes a little India on Saturday and Sunday nights when all the migrant workers have their day off from the construction sites. The streets were PACKED with men. I always thought that migrant workers came with their families but apparently that is not the case. Busy streets, people scattered sitting on sidewalks, people sifting through mounds of clothing, in and out of the ABC "Cheapest store in Singapore" store, Indian music blaring through the streets, people watching Bollywood movies in an outdoor courtyard with street food and beer. It's a happenin' place. You really can't help but dance to the Indian rhythms on the street while trying not to get run over or lost in the crowds of people.

Now the food. This time the food came on clean green-plant-like-mats. Clean! Not just wiped down with a dirty rag from the other table's food. I was already impressed. We at a lot. And it was amazing.
Dosa!

Rice dish - everything here is refillable.

Not only was the third time visiting Little India a great success - but so was the fourth and fifth time. Hopefully there will be a Little India 6.0 and 7.o before leaving Singapore in a couple of weeks.
