"We're going to NYC to eat."

That's exactly what I told the border crossing officer when he asked why we were driving to NYC. He chuckled and then waved us through. I had to be honest.  NYC is a big tourist destination... you know, Time Square, Broadway, Central Park, the Empire State building, Statue of Liberty, etc. However, for me... the only thing on my list before arriving was "visit Korea town and eat food".  Koreatown was a bit disappointing because there weren't enough Koreans! But here are some other highlights:

  • skating in Bryant Park without getting killed from the masses of horrible skaters
  • walking towards the big bright lights at night and stumbled upon Times Square
  • visiting Redeemer Presbyterian
  • walking thru Central Park thinking that if I stayed long enough, my true love would appear just as he does in all the movies
  • Empire State building - not going up because I knew Tom Hanks wasn't waiting for me like in Sleepless in Seattle
  • going to the Jimmy Fallon show with Charlotte
  • eating Gluten free pizza two days in a row
  • splurging on Gluten free cupcakes, muffins, cookies, and a DONUT!
  • the smell of China town...
  • walking many many blocks every single day
I saw a lot, ate a lot, walked a lot in NYC - more than I'd like to write about! So this list ends here.

Williamsburg - the land of fixies and skinny jeans
Next stop on the road trip: Ottawa, Canada's capital. I've never enjoyed Ottawa before... until this time. Friends kept telling me that I'd change my mind about Ottawa but being stubborn and having such a huge aversion to the city, I wasn't convinced. Thank you friends, I no longer hold a harsh word about our country's capital. I had a lot of fun visiting with friends and being able to see Natalie and her community. I realized how much I long for such a community. I can't wait to settle somewhere for longer than 4 months and develop these friendships that I will do life with.

Ottawa highlights:
  • friends!
  • Indian food in the market
  • dance party
  • cooking and hanging out with Natalie

Overall, great reading week. Thanks friends!
