Down is the tube
And I'm off to Malawi! Or rather, "I'm in transit, darling" as the British would say. I am currently in London and was really hoping to be touring through central London today... but alas, the UK border people gave me the bad news. The tube (subway) is on strike until tomorrow night. Just great! I managed to find another way to get to central London so that I could either hop on a tour or just navigate through the city at my own pace for the day. But then, all my hopes of seeing London today crashed. The cost of the special train to get near central London where a tour would start was out of this world expensive. And the tour wouldn't have been worth it because I would have been sitting on a bus all day (because the boat tour and walking tours wouldnt be so happy in the cold POURING rain). I decided to buy some internet time so that I could see what else I could do and then my battery started to die so I look for a plug in... sheesh! Why does everyone have to be so different?! Seriously! So then I HAVE to get some UK currency (pounds) to buy a converter for the computer and that's when I learnt how little value our money has here. It's actually quite gross. When you look at the numbers...things seem reasonably priced...except there's a pound symbol instead of a dollar sign $...which means you practically have to double the price. I guess London will have to wait until I'm old and have more money and with people (to make looking at old buildings and clock towers and bridges more exciting!).
The flight to London, however was quite enjoyable. I have flown a lot and this was by far the smoothest ride yet.
